Recently, I experienced this firsthand on a trip to visit a friend in Tamarindo. What started as a simple journey turned into an adventure filled with unexpected connections and the kindness of strangers.</p><p>I began my trip by taking a bus to the ferry. Unfortunately, I missed the first bus and had to wait for the second. When I finally got off the bus, I realized I didn’t know where the ferry dock was. Luckily, I met an Irish backpacker who spoke fluent Spanish. This news threw me into a strategic mode, trying to figure out my next move. While I was deep in thought, I heard a familiar voice. I looked over and saw a woman I had met a few weeks earlier. Our jaws dropped in surprise at the serendipity of meeting again.</p><p>We caught up, and I told her my predicament. She and her boyfriend kindly offered me a ride to Santa Teresa, where I could catch a shuttle. The guy I had been talking to also gave us recommendations for affordable transportation and hotels. They had planned a different route but had to change plans due to a roadblock. If I hadn’t missed the first bus, I would have been on a ferry four hours earlier.
